Determination of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid in water, sediment and soil using high performance liquid chromatography

ABSTRACT. The purpose of this study was to develop a method for the extraction and determination 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) from soil, sediment, water, investigate its stability in water using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). recoveries spiked compound soil samples found be range 80 100%. yield 2,4-D during acidification corresponding amine 93.84-99.98%. A calibration curve showed good linearity (R2 ≥ 0.9996). LOD determined 0.45 µg/mL while LOQ 2 µg/mL. From analysis samples, not detected sediment or Wafiko Kontola sites (Ethiopia), respectively. concentrations Bochessa, Sher (Ethiopia) were high, ranging 68.22 167.7 mg/L which exceeded United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) regulatory agency standards 70 µg/L. 45-day experiment on Lake Koka demonstrated that acidic form is stable with 73.46 ± 2.00% recoveries. developed can used determine residues water.
